Breast Cancer

At Baheya Hospital. One month, split across the four units of breast cancer care, so you follow the patient from diagnosis to treatment.

Time in each unit: one week each

Medical Oncology

Oncology clinic and day-care unit

What you'll see

  • Staging and treatment planning

  • Chemotherapy and targeted therapy

  • Hormonal therapy follow-up

  • Managing treatment side effects

  • Multidisciplinary tumour board

Skills you'll practice

  • Reading receptor status (ER, PR, HER2)

  • Recognizing chemotherapy toxicity

  • Taking an oncology history

Pathology

Histopathology laboratory

What you'll see

  • Core biopsy and surgical specimen handling

  • Histological types of breast cancer

  • Reading a pathology report

  • Linking pathology to treatment decisions

Surgical Oncology

Breast surgery clinic and theatre

  • Triple assessment of a breast lump

  • Clinical breast examination
